AMERICANS WHO TELL THE TRUTH - The paintings of Robert Shetterly
ArtRage Gallery
Saturday, September 11th, 2010 (6:00 pm)

This remarkable collection of portraits is intended to remind people of the dignity, courage and importance of some of America’s truth tellers. Each portrait includes a moving quote by the subject and a biography is displayed with each painting. We have chosen 28 portraits from the 150 in the artist’s current collection. We intend for this exhibit to encourage a dialogue that will help each of us figure out which truths we value most as citizens in a threatened democracy.

Cleveland Remembers 9/11
Cleveland Elementary School
Saturday, September 11th, 2010 (6:00 pm)

The Village of Cleveland Spirit Committee invites the public to participate in the 9th annual 9/11 Remembrance held in the village. We feel it is important to think about what happened that day so we can honor those who perished, those who unselfishly stepped up to help, and those risking their lives daily so it never happens again. The next generation needs to be taught about this part of our nation’s history and the implications of forgetting the valuable lessons learned.

Citizens, first responders, veterans, and representatives of community organizations are asked to gather at Cleveland Elementary School at 6:15PM for a silent vigil down State Route 49 to Lakeview Park beginning at 6:30PM. In the event of inclement weather the event will take place inside Cleveland Elementary School.

At Lakeview Park there will be short prayers, one featured speaker - Col. Keith Lockard, US Army, Retired, the ringing of the “Four Fives” bell by the Cleveland Fire Department, patriotic singing by the North Shore Community Chorus, and a rifle salute by the Raymond-Faulkner-Cook American Legion Honor Guard. Everyone is invited to the American Legion following the ceremony for free refreshments provided by the American Legion Auxiliary.
